How to Use Azlok's 15-Oval + 6-Flower Silicone Soap Mold Combo

Azlok's 15 Cavity Oval Shape Mold and 6 Round Flower Soap Mold combo is a two-mold silicone set for making handmade soaps, massage bars and other DIY skincare pours. The oval tray gives you 15 small bars of roughly 50–60 gm each, while the flower mold makes 6 decorative bars of about 105–110 gm. Both are flexible, heat-resistant silicone that release easily and clean up fast.

What you can make with this combo

The two molds cover different needs, which is exactly why they come as a set. The oval mold is ideal when you want many small, uniform bars in one batch. The flower mold is better for gift-worthy pieces with a raised design on the surface.

  • Melt-and-pour soap: The simplest way to start. Melt a glycerin or goat milk soap base, add colour and fragrance, and pour.
  • Cold process soap: Suits both molds, though silicone works best for slower-tracing recipes so you can pour cleanly.
  • Massage bars and lotion bars: Beeswax, cocoa butter and carrier oil blends set neatly in the oval cavities.
  • Bath melts and wax pieces: Because the silicone is heat resistant, you can also pour wax for small decorative or scented items.

How to use the molds step by step

  1. Place on a firm tray: Silicone is flexible, so set the mold on a flat baking tray before filling. This lets you move it without spilling.
  2. Prepare your soap base: Melt melt-and-pour base gently in short bursts, or mix your cold-process batter to light trace.
  3. Add colour and fragrance last: Stir in skin-safe colourant and fragrance or essential oil just before pouring so the scent stays strong.
  4. Pour slowly: Fill each cavity to the top. For the flower mold, tap the tray lightly to push the mixture into the pattern details and release air bubbles.
  5. Let it set: Melt-and-pour firms up in a few hours; cold process usually needs 24–48 hours before unmoulding, then weeks to cure.
  6. Unmould gently: Peel the silicone back from the edges and push from the base. The bars should pop out with a clean surface.

Tips for a professional finish

  • Spray a fine mist of isopropyl alcohol on the surface right after pouring to reduce bubbles and give a smooth top.
  • For a crisp flower design, pour a slightly cooler mixture so it doesn't run thin in the details.
  • Don't overfill. Fill just to the rim so the back of each bar stays flat.
  • If you want layered or embedded soaps, let the first layer skin over before adding the next.

Safety notes

Soap making often involves hot melted base or lye. Work in a ventilated space, wear gloves and eye protection when handling lye for cold process, and keep children and pets away from your work area. Never pour boiling-hot liquid—let melts cool slightly so they're hot but pourable. Silicone here is heat resistant for normal soap and wax pouring temperatures, but it is not meant for direct flame or oven-broiler use. Do not ingest soap or its ingredients.

Buying and storage tips

This Azlok combo is priced at ₹589 and is available as a 1 Combo Pack or 2 Combo Pack—handy if you make larger batches or want a spare. The oval tray measures roughly 30 x 2.2 x 24 cm and the flower mold about 17 x 25 cm. Do note the store ships whichever colour is in stock, since silicone mold colour does not affect the finished soap.

To make the molds last:

  • Wash with warm water and mild dish soap; avoid abrasive scrubbers that scratch the silicone.
  • Dry fully before storing to prevent any residue buildup.
  • Store flat or loosely rolled, away from sharp objects and direct sunlight.
  • Silicone can hold onto strong fragrance oils, so a quick wash after scented batches keeps them fresh.

FAQ

Can I use these molds for cold process soap?

Yes. Silicone suits both melt-and-pour and cold process. For cold process, allow 24–48 hours before unmoulding, then cure the bars for four to six weeks before use.

How much soap does each mold make?

The 15-cavity oval mold produces bars of about 50–60 gm each, and the 6-cavity flower mold makes larger bars of around 105–110 gm each.

Do I need to grease silicone molds before pouring?

Usually not. Silicone releases naturally. A light spray of isopropyl alcohol on the surface after pouring helps reduce bubbles, but greasing is generally unnecessary.

Are these molds safe for candle or wax pouring?

The silicone is heat resistant and works for pouring wax at normal candle-making temperatures. Keep it away from open flame and do not use it under a broiler or direct heat source.

What colour mold will I receive?

Colour depends on current stock and does not affect your finished product. If a specific colour isn't available, another colour will be delivered instead.
