The Azlok Oval Shape Silicone Mold with 15 cavities lets you cast fifteen smooth, oval-shaped soaps, candles or resin pieces in a single pour. It is made from durable, food-grade silicone, heat-resistant up to 440°F (230°C), and flexible enough to pop out finished bars without cutting or forcing them. If you make soap in small batches and want a neat, repeatable shape, this is a straightforward, reliable tool.
What you can make with it
The classic oval is one of the most comfortable soap shapes to hold in the hand, which is why it stays popular for guest soaps and everyday bars. Each cavity holds roughly 50–60 gm of soap, so a full mold gives you a tidy batch of around 750–900 gm at once.
- Cold and hot process soap — the flexible silicone releases cured bars cleanly.
- Melt-and-pour soap — ideal for beginners; just melt, colour, pour and set.
- Candles — pour wax directly, since the mold handles heat well.
- Resin and epoxy crafts — coasters, pendants, trinkets and paperweights.
- Kitchen and baking — being food-grade, it can be used for chocolates, mini cakes or ice.
How to use the mold
- Place the mold on a flat, rigid tray or board before filling. Silicone is soft, and a tray keeps it stable when you lift it.
- For melt-and-pour, cut your soap base into cubes, melt gently, add fragrance and colour, then pour into each cavity.
- For cold process, pour your traced batter evenly and tap the tray on the counter to release air bubbles.
- Let the pieces set fully. Melt-and-pour firms up in a few hours; cold process usually needs 24–48 hours before unmoulding, then longer to cure.
- To demould, gently peel the silicone away from the edges, then push from the base. The oval should slide out with a clean, glossy surface.
Tips and safety notes
- Don't overfill. Leave a hair of space at the top so bars sit flat and unmould evenly.
- Cure before use. Even after unmoulding, cold process soap needs several weeks of curing for a hard, long-lasting bar.
- Work with lye carefully. If you make cold process soap, always add lye to water (never the reverse), wear gloves and eye protection, and work in a ventilated area away from children and pets.
- Fragrance and essential oils should be used at recommended rates for soap; too much can cause seizing or skin irritation.
- Heat limits. The mold is rated to 230°C. For candles and baking, stay within that range and never place it on a direct flame or hot burner.
- Colour note. Azlok lists this mold in magenta/purple. If your chosen colour is out of stock, an alternative colour 15-cavity mold of the same design may be delivered instead.
Buying and storage
The mold is priced at ₹469 and comes in packs of 1, 2, 5 or 10 — handy if you run a small home business and want to fill several batches back to back. Each mold measures about 30 x 2.2 x 24 cm and weighs around 200 gm, so it stores flat in a drawer or stacks easily.
To keep silicone lasting for years, wash it with mild soap and warm water after each use and dry it fully before storing. It is dishwasher-safe, though hand-washing extends its life and keeps residue from building up in the cavities. Avoid sharp knives or metal scrapers inside the mold, as cuts in silicone are permanent. Store it away from direct sunlight and heat. You'll find this and other soap-making supplies in the Azlok range.
FAQ
How much soap does each cavity hold?
Each oval cavity holds roughly 50–60 gm, so a full 15-cavity mold produces about 750–900 gm of soap in one pour.
Is this mold safe for food and candles?
Yes. It is made from food-grade silicone rated up to 230°C, so it works for chocolates and baking as well as candles and resin.
Do I need to grease the mold before pouring?
Usually not. Silicone is naturally non-stick, so soap, wax and resin release on their own once fully set. A very light release spray can help with sticky resins.
How long before I can unmould the soap?
Melt-and-pour sets in a few hours. Cold process soap generally needs 24–48 hours in the mold, followed by four to six weeks of curing before use.
What if my preferred colour is unavailable?
Azlok may deliver a 15-cavity oval mold of the same design in an alternative colour if the listed magenta/purple is out of stock. The shape, size and function remain the same.
