Body Butter Base: The Ready-to-Use Way to Make Your Own Body Butter

Azlok's Body Butter Base (Ready to Use) is a pre-formulated white cream that lets you make your own body butter without cooking, emulsifying or measuring waxes. You simply take the base, stir in your chosen fragrance, colour or skin-loving add-ins, and pack it — it is ready to spread straight from the jar.

What is a Body Butter Base?

Think of it as a finished cream that has deliberately been left plain. The hard part of skincare making — getting oils and water to blend into a stable, non-greasy emulsion — is already done for you. This base is a white, viscous liquid built around nourishing ingredients like shea butter (Butyrospermum Parkii), soybean oil, Brazil nut (Bertholletia excelsa) seed oil, glycerin and panthenol, with tocopherol (vitamin E) and gentle preservatives such as sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate. It is paraben free and alcohol free.

For small businesses, hobby makers and gifting, it removes the guesswork. You get a consistent texture every single batch.

Common uses

  • Custom body butters — the primary use; scent and colour it your way.
  • After-shower moisturiser for dry arms, legs, elbows and knees.
  • Small-batch retail products — private-label body butters for your brand.
  • Personalised gifts — festive hampers, wedding favours and return gifts.

How to use it

Because the base is ready to use, the workflow is short:

  1. Weigh out the quantity of base you need into a clean, sanitised bowl.
  2. Add cosmetic-grade fragrance or essential oil — usually around 0.5% to 1% of the total weight. Start small and adjust.
  3. If you want colour, blend in a tiny amount of cosmetic mica until even.
  4. Optional actives such as a little extra carrier oil can be folded in, but keep additions modest so you do not thin the texture or upset the preservation.
  5. Stir gently but thoroughly, then transfer into airtight jars.

Keep everything clean. Sanitise jars, spatulas and bowls before you begin, and avoid introducing water into the mix, as that can shorten shelf life.

Tips and safety notes

  • This product is for external use only. Do not ingest it.
  • Always do a patch test on a small area of skin before wider use, especially after adding fragrance or actives.
  • Note that the base contains soybean and Brazil nut oils — relevant if you or your customers have nut or soy sensitivities.
  • Add fragrance sparingly. Overdosing scent can irritate skin and does not improve the product.
  • Keep away from children when working with raw materials.
  • Label your finished jars with the date made and ingredients if you are selling or gifting.

Buying and storage

Azlok offers the Body Butter Base from a 500 g starter size up to 1 KG, 5 KG, 10 KG and 20 KG, so you can begin with a trial batch and scale up as your demand grows. It is made in India and priced from ₹449.

Store the base at room temperature in an airtight container, away from direct sunlight and heat. Sealed and handled hygienically, it has a shelf life of about 12 months. Once you have added your own ingredients, use your finished body butter within a reasonable time and watch for any change in smell, colour or texture.

FAQ

Is Azlok Body Butter Base ready to use as it is?

Yes. It is a finished, stable cream. You can use it plain as a moisturiser, or simply add fragrance and colour to make your own body butter — no heating or emulsifying required.

Is it paraben free?

Yes, the base is paraben free and alcohol free. It is preserved with caprylyl glycol, sodium benzoate and potassium sorbate.

How much fragrance can I add?

A typical dosage is around 0.5% to 1% of the total weight. Start on the lower side, stir well, and increase only if needed. Too much fragrance can cause skin irritation.

Can I sell products made with this base?

Many small makers use ready bases for private-label products. If you sell, follow local cosmetic labelling rules, keep your process hygienic and test each batch. Azlok provides COA and MSDS documentation on request.

How long does it last?

The unopened base keeps for about 12 months when stored in an airtight container at room temperature, away from heat and sunlight.
