Mogra Fragrance Oil: How to Use This Classic Jasmine Scent at Home

Mogra Fragrance Oil is a rich, floral jasmine-type scent used to add fragrance to candles, soaps, diffusers, bath products and body care. It captures the warm, slightly indolic aroma of blooming mogra (jasmine) flowers, and you add it in small measured amounts rather than using it neat on the skin.

At Azlok we stock this fragrance oil in sizes from 100 Gm up to 25 Kg, so it suits both weekend hobbyists and small businesses. Here is how to get the most out of it.

What Mogra Fragrance Oil smells like

The scent opens with a slightly green, fresh floral top note. The heart is where the magic sits — rich, creamy jasmine with that classic slightly indolic depth that mogra lovers recognise instantly. It settles into a soft, sweet, mildly musky base. There are supporting floral and vegetal undertones reminiscent of rose, white plumeria, lily and thyme, which give the aroma its oriental, full-bodied character.

The oil itself is a liquid, pale yellow to yellow in colour. Keep this in mind when adding it to pale or white products, as it can slightly tint your batch.

Common uses

  • Candles: Blend into soy, coconut or paraffin wax for a warm floral throw.
  • Soaps and bath bombs: Cold-process and melt-and-pour soap, bath salts and bombs.
  • Body care: Creams, lotions, body butters, scrubs and lip balms.
  • Wash-off products: Shampoos, conditioners and shower gels.
  • Home fragrance: Reed diffusers, room sprays and wax melts.

It is designed for cosmetic and home-fragrance formulations, not for eating or drinking.

How to use it

Fragrance oils are concentrated, so a little goes a long way. Always work by weight for consistency.

  1. Candles: Typically 6–10% of the wax weight, added at the correct temperature for your wax, then stirred well.
  2. Soap: Usually around 3% of your total batch weight; check your soap base's tolerance.
  3. Lotions and creams: A conservative fraction of a percent, following safe usage limits for leave-on products.
  4. Diffusers and sprays: Blend with a suitable carrier or diffuser base and test the strength you like.

Because the exact safe percentage depends on the product type, always follow IFRA guidelines and the usage rates on the batch documentation. Start low, test, and increase gradually.

Safety notes

Fragrance oils are potent and need a little care.

  • Do not apply undiluted oil directly to skin. Always dilute for leave-on products and do a small patch test first.
  • Keep away from eyes, and out of reach of children and pets.
  • Do not ingest. This is not a food flavouring or an edible oil.
  • Work in a ventilated space and avoid open flames while handling the liquid.
  • If you have sensitive skin or known fragrance allergies, check the allergen and MSDS details before use.

Buying and storage

Choose your pack size to match how often you make things. A 100 Gm bottle is plenty for trying recipes, while the 5 Kg to 25 Kg options make sense for regular production. Azlok's Mogra Fragrance Oil is made in India and priced from ₹399.

Store it in a cool, dry place, tightly closed and away from direct sunlight and heat. Kept well, the shelf life is around two years. Label your bottle with the date opened, and always close the cap firmly to prevent the top notes from fading.

FAQ

Is Mogra Fragrance Oil the same as mogra attar or essential oil?

No. It is a fragrance oil formulated to smell like mogra jasmine, not a steam-distilled essential oil or a traditional attar. It is intended for making candles, soaps and cosmetics rather than as a natural aromatherapy oil.

Can I apply it directly to my skin as a perfume?

Not undiluted. Fragrance oils should be blended into a suitable base at safe usage levels and patch-tested first. Applying concentrated oil neat can irritate the skin.

How much should I use in candles?

As a general starting point, around 6–10% of the wax weight, added at your wax's recommended fragrance temperature. Test a small batch to find the throw you prefer.

Will it change the colour of my product?

It can. The oil is pale yellow to yellow, so it may lightly tint very white or pale formulations. Factor this in when making clear or white candles and soaps.

How long does it last once opened?

About two years when stored in a cool, dry, dark place with the cap tightly closed. Heat, light and air will shorten its life and weaken the scent.
